Where you are when you have gone through Mongolian Customs, but are driving to the Russian side, I have no idea. What if broke down there? Or had an off, and needed help? I have no clue who would have jurisdiction. We ended up stopping for lunch in the middle, as one of the checkpoint guards told us the Russian side all went for lunch at the same time. Which they did. Closed the border, and all went in to town.
We waited about an hour at the border, but it was smooth after that. Only cost us about $2 to have our tires washed off. Guess the Russians don't want any Mongolian mud in their country.
We drove to the next town, couldn't find a hotel, so we rented a GER for the night, from a drunk Russian. We slept on the floor.
177 km Today (because of the border crossing)
2551 km in Mongolia
