Day 116-118: Crossing into Canada

Rode through Washington State and crossed back home to Canada at the BC border.

Drove to Hope BC where we met up with our friend Jarrod, who had driven out from Calgary with his truck and trailer.

We knew that this late in the year, we would not be able to drive across the Rogers pass, as it would be snowed in.  We had hoped to be able to drive as far as possible, but if it got snowy on the road, or dipped below 0 degrees C, then we would have to load the bikes on the trailer.

After staying the night in Hope, BC, we rode all day in the rain (cold) to Revelstoke.  It got pretty sketchy at the end, when we were mere kilometers from Revelstoke, and the temperature was dropping close to 0.  We kept stopping and testing the road, but it stayed clear all the way.

The next morning, after looking at the highway camera's, it was apparant we would be unable to continue riding, so we loaded up the bikes, and set off for the Rogers pass.  Not 20 minutes after we left, the roads became slushy and the snow was piled up on the sides of the roads.  There was no way to safely ride this section.

.

The snow and freezing rain continued from the time we cleared the pass, right up until Canmore, Alberta, where we pulled over, unloaded the bikes, and prepared to ride into Calgary.
