Gear Update

We've got about just under 3,000km so far this trip. By this time last trip we had bent rims, a fried battery, broken chain, 3 broken helmet cams, cracked pannier racks, leaking "water-proof" riding gear and a non-functioning bike to bike communication system. I'm happy to report that the bikes and gear have been excellent so far. We made a lot of changes from last year's trip and so far they appear to be great choices.

We were cold, wet and miserable last year while riding in the rain 23 of the first 26 days last year. Obviously better water proofing was required. Today, riding 70mph into 3 hours of heavy rain, we both managed to stay totally dry. A huge improvement! There's a complete list of riding gear listed under "The Guys" tab on the main page.

While the F800GS is a great adventure bike right off the showroom floor, I had a few major upgrades that I wanted to make and several small ones before we began this new adventure. A complete bike build up thread for my bike can be found at:  ADVRider Build Thread
