Costa Rica.
Costa is right. This place costa's a whole bunch of money.
After our $100 US border yesterday, we stayed at the closest hotel we could find.
For me, it was the longest night I have ever had. About 9:00 pm, it really started to storm a bit outside and the wind kicked up. I don't know if this was the catalyst, but my allergies really went into overdrive, and I started to sneeze and sniffle like crazy.
By the time we went to bed, I was sneezing, sniffling, eyes watering and generally not feeling that well. By about 2:00 am, my sinuses were so sore that my entire face was in pain, and the teeth in the top of my mouth felt like they were being pushed out, along with my jaw from the sinus pressure.
I couldn't lay down, I couldn't sit, I was miserable. In addition, it was hot and muggy in our room, and the fan didn't reach over to my bed. I had three cold showers trying to cool down, but they only helped for 10 or 15 minutes.
What would have helped was some Tylenol, and I had used my last ones a couple weeks ago. So I just sat there, trying not to wake Cory up, feeling awful.
About 7:00 am, I finally fell asleep, and when Cory woke me at 10:30, the pain had subsided, but I was exhausted.
When we stopped for lunch at noon, the guys ate and I fell asleep in my chair in the food court. The thing about these hay fever/sinus flare ups, is that after they subside, I'm fine. So other than being tired tonight, everything is back to normal.
We're in Costa Rica, on the Pacific coast again, at a 1 star hotel, which is $90 US per night for a bunk room with 4 beds. In El Salvador, this same place would have cost us $7.00 bucks. Troy has decided to fast in protest and will only drink beer for the remainder of our time in Costa Rica. :)
The beach in front of our hotel is littered with dry driftwood, so the fire on the beach tonight was awesome. There are some large ships anchored off the coast in the distance that light the horizon, and the stars are beautiful and bright.
.
P.S. on the way walking to the grocery store tonight, we passed some of the local "chicaboy" (transvestite) prostitutes. We are starting to see more and more of them… it seems to be a popular thing down here. Weird for us.
