Luna's Hostel - Panama City

Affter our night of adventure in the jungles of Panama… with no sheets, we were picked up in the morning by a driver and taken back to the Cargo terminal to finish the paperwork, pay and clear customs.

The paperwork for Girag was very straightforward.  We provided our Passports and Bike registration, in less than 1/2 hour we had an Air Waybill (2 copies) and a warehouse receipt for the bikes.

We then went over and paid ($650.00 + $101.38 tax and fees = $751.38).  The original price was $900, but since we (along with the Dutch boys) were shipping 5 bikes all at the same time, they cut us a deal.

The only funny part was when we went to pay, they required exact change.  :)

It was then to customs to turn in the temporary motorcycle registration, and we had our bikes officially and legally ready to leave Panama.

We hopped a cab at the airport, and told them to take us to the nearest hostel.  After a lengthy but interesting drive through the city, we ended up in a fairly decent part of town, where they dumped us off at Luna's Castle Hostel.

Walking through the front door, we were greeted with the site of a big orange BMW motorcycle.  Incredibly, in a city with a metro population of 1.2 million, we had ended up at the same Hostel as Cory.  :)

Imagine his surprise when we walked in and surrounded him.  He is staying here for a couple days before heading back north to return to Canada.

We had a great night in the downstairs bar, meeting travellers from all over the world, and swapping stories of high adventure.

Our bikes leave Sunday morning and we fly out Monday.

Tomorrow, it's off to tour the Panama Canal.

  1. Sounds like the universe decided you weren't finished this part of the trip together.
