On the move...

We were in Barranquilla for over a week, and the time has passed too quickly.

Being able to meet up with Toni and May made our stay in city so special.

May took us to local restaurants that she knew well, and they all were amazing.  Of course, there is only so much you can do with plain chicken, rice and potatoes, but I loved the experience none the less.

Toni was able to introduce us to lots of wonderful local people...

(everyone else, maybe read between the lines here a little bit… Moms, just read what is written.).

It was been so much fun (understatement) for Troy and I.  We always had someone to go out with, of play pool, or go to the beach, and we will forever remember Barranquilla.  In fact, we are seriously thinking that wherever we are at the beginning of March, we might fly back for a week of Carnaval.   It is something we have been told we cannot miss.

Can't find the door?

Yury took me on a tour of an amazing 300 year old brick fort overlooking the ocean.  Amazing.

This little guy loved Troy's helmet.

Yury and Vanessa, and some sunburnt dude in the middle.

Troy and our wonderful girl May.

In a couple years, she'll be a Doctor.  Sigh...
Ahhh... Vanessa. :)
We got on the road finally, and had just a wonderful ride.. until we got busted for speeding.  :)

We weren't going fast… 110 km, but it's 80km here on all the highways, except nobody goes that slow.  We were caught dead to rights, since there was no one else on the road at that time but us.

The cop walked over with a big grin on his face, which I thought was a good sign, until I noticed the radar gun in his hand.

We exchanged the usual… "where are we from", "where are we going" etc.

At this point he showed me the radar gun…"110km/h".

I just kept smiling and started handing him papers.  I think I gave him some insurance documents from Costa Rica, an import form from Nicaragua, some receipts from dinner, business cards from various hotels and a bill for one of the helmet cams.

I'm sure he thought I may be a bit simple.

But he waved us along.  No ticket.  I gave him a couple Terranova stickers.

We win again. :)

Tonight, we have landed in Cartagena… which is a city of romance, legends and sheer beauty.
