Day 27: Mongolian Border to Ulaanbaatar

After we got through the border, we drove about 50 km to the first town, and booked into a hotel for the night.

The hotels in Mongolia are roughly the same as the hotels in Russian, in that they ummmm.. suck.

The nice thing about the Mongolian hotels is that the people are nice, and the prices match the accomodations.

We shared one room, had a shared bathroom with the rest of the floor. There was one shower, and they had to move the washing machine out of it. There was no hot water. There was freezing cold, and slightly less freezing cold.

So I had the quickest shower ever. Oh yah.. no towels.

We ate our "space food" in the room, with our propane powered cook pot. And went to bed. For about 5 minutes till we realized the roof leaked.

So we ended up moving Cory's bed into the middle of the room, far enough away from the leak. After a nice 15 minutes of quiet, the door banging and yelling, and loud talking started, and went on all night. That almost drowned out the sound of the 15 dogs barking outside our window... again all night. Petar slept through it all, Cory and I stared at the roof.

We went to pay in the morning, and realized for the sum of 300 rubles (about $3.00 each) and another $2.00 for the bike storage (in a nice locked garage), we may have gotten our money's worth.
