Doris Sharp: 1911-2009



My grandmother has passed away. She was 98 years old.

I have been thinking about her a lot this trip, and I can't help but think of the things she witnessed in the world since she was a little girl... from the car becoming commonplace, to WWI, WWII, the computer, the internet... a lot has changed since 1911.

When we left for this trip, she came to Calgary to see us off. I was very happy she was able.

My mother had been showing her the Terranova blog, and she was following along, completely baffled at why I would want to do this crazy thing.

She has been a big part of my entire life, and I will miss her terribly. I love you Gran.

    Aw Tim, I'm sorry. I wish I had a card for you! :) You are so right though, in that time she must have seen some amazing things.... incredible really when you think about it. So glad she made it to the send-off.... keep that memory in your heart and she will always be with you.

    Tim, Aunt Doris (Gran) was a great woman, and a cornerstone of our family for such a long time, as you and I have said to each other in the past, we can only hope to live the life she lived. Keep smiling.

    Hey Tim - so sorry to hear about your Gran. I know how very much you loved her... She saw amazing things in her lifetime, and you are carrying on her legacy by doing the same!

    So sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandmother and to know you got to see her before you left on your trip must be a huge relief in such a difficult time. I know you have accomplished lots and she sound like a wise person who would be extremely proud of you. lol Jan H
