I had always wanted to see this place. It contains over 4000 airplanes, stored at the 309th AMARC by the US Government for parts, or until needed. The dry, hard desert is perfect, as the planes don't corrode, and can be left for years at a time until needed.
In addition, they have the Pima Air and Space museum which is fascinating.
Roughly 60 percent of the planes in the Boneyard can be made flyable again. Some are there for parts usages. It's a massive 2600 acre facility beside Davis-Monthan Air Base.
