We rode through Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas.
Wanting to get South as quickly as possible, we've rode most of the way on the Interstates, which is the fastest way to travel, but also the most boring.

Hour after hour dodging big rigs and stopping for gas, has led us to be a little bored sometimes about this section of the trip.
We're tired of Gas station food, as we've eaten enough chips and drank enough pop for 10 trips. It's hard to eat well, when you have no place to cook, and are only stopping long enough to grab something quick. When you do this, you end up eating crap.
So, starting today, we've made a point of taking the "back" roads through Texas, and we did a wonderful ride this afternoon through some gorgeous country.
We are going to continue to try wherever possible to stay off the interstates.
Some highlights:
Camping in Missouri along the bank of a beautiful lake, we had the campground mostly to ourselves. I guess everyone thinks it's winter now, so they've stopped camping. It was beautiful
We road through Hope, Arkansas, home of President Clinton (there were signs) :)
We stopped in San Angelo, Texas to visit our friend Matt from West Texas Offroad. Matt and his family put us up in their home for the night, and took us out for some awesome Texas steaks. We know Matt from competing with him at offroad events over the years.
nce into Texas, we rode on the President George Bush Highway, then took the President George Bush offramp, to the President George Bush interchange
It pays to listen to your big brother. I told you the interstates were no way to travel. HA!
