Continuing our eastward journey, we were aiming for Guadalajara, until we realized the area was home to 4 million people.
Fully loaded Adventure bikes and large crowded cities are not our favourite combination, after you have fought traffic in 20 or 30 of them, they all seem to take on the same look, just a lot of big trucks, people and honking.
So we took a pass on Guadalajara, and ended up in Chapala, which is a quaint little town on the edge of a beautiful lake.
We found a nice hotel, which became our FAVORITE HOTEL EVER when they let us park our bikes INSIDE the lobby.
For some reason, this has been a dream of ours ever since we started traveling, and up until now, the best we got was a courtyard in Poland and a crappy outdoor patio in Kazakhstan. So this ended up being a special treat, especially since the doorway into the hotel was about 5 inches wider than our bikes. It was a tight fit.
After getting settled, we wandered down to the lake shore, and were immediately enthralled by the throngs of local Mexicans (not many tourista's here) on the boardwalk, enjoying the evening and milling around the local market stores set up on the shore.
One thing we have noticed everywhere we travel, is that people are people. The area was filled with folks out enjoying the last night of the weekend, taking in the sights and sounds on a beautiful Sunday night. It was idyllic and wonderful.
It looks like a great spot to spend some time. I love these pictures. You're right - people being people! Enjoyed the video of your bikes in the lobby.
