La Paz

La Paz.

We rode from our amazing camp on the beach, in the most sweltering heat we've ever had on the road.  It hit 38°C (101°F) today, which is like riding while someone blows a hair dryer in your face.    It didn't help that it was a flat, boring section of desert, with nothing but scrub and cactus to look at.

The first 250 km felt like they took forever, and we were all drenched in sweat, sun and wind burnt when we stopped off for a water break.  After taking the break, we got back on the road, heading the last 115 km to La Paz, and it dropped in temperature at least 10 degrees.  We all commented that the last 100 km went by in a snap.

We turned in at the first campground in town, and were pleasantly surprised to find two other Adventure bikers (Frank and Simone) from Germany were already at camp.  Cory had met them at the MRT rally in BC back in August.  They have been here for a day, and are going to be staying for a week.

Also here is a gentleman from the Netherlands in a custom Expedition camper that he built.  We'll take some pictures of it before we leave.

Tomorrow we will head off for Cabo San Lucas to hopefully get my bike looked at.  The rear seal on my Final Drive is leaking, and we need to get it fixed before we had back to La Paz, and then the ferry to the mainland.

Pics to come from today when our internet is faster.
