Day 3: Vancouver and Customs...

Short drive today to Vancouver (154 KM), where we spent the day getting customs stuff sorted out. Cory stopped by Pacific BMW and had his computer flashed for low octane. We met a great couple this morning on two old-school Boxer BMW's... both with over 160,000 miles on their bikes...

The evening (4 hours) was spent at customs signing endless reams of paperwork (used Motorcycles are considered Dangerous Goods) so the Customs guys require gobs of stickers and certifications and signatures, then they spend a lot of time looking in large books and frowning, before pronouncing every 10 to 15 minutes that we didn't qualify for FORM B19A or Section 31G before arguing amongst themselves for a while, disappearing into the back, then coming out 20 minutes later to say.. " no, I guess you don't really need to do that". Then we go on to the next round and do it again. The whole process took 4 hours.

Tomorrow we leave for South Korea.

  1. All the while, I will wait patiently in the hotel room, wondering if you have been kidnapped by some people who have no sense of direction....
