We rode from Arequipa to Tacna, Peru yesterday, through some gorgeous desert. Vanessa's first time ever to see the desert in real life, so her eye's were like saucers.
Had to ride a bit in the dark, since we got away late, but the road was endless and straight through the sands, and it made for some amazing scenery as the sun went down. Booked into the first hotel we found, which ended up being too nice (and too expensive) but were were tired, and it was nice. :)

The magnificent church in the centre Square of Arequipa. This is about 1/4 of it. It's massive. |

The road goes through the middle of a military base in the desert. We weren't supposed to stop and take pictures, so just after this one, a big military truck came by and they stopped and told us to put the camera away. They were friendly, and I think they just stopped because Vanessa had her Bikini top on. :) |
