Tacna, Peru to Arica, Chile

Today was a border day, so not much riding, only a couple hours, if that.

The border between Peru and Chile is modern and efficient.  The guys at the border were very friendly and interested in the bike.  In fact, while we were filling out forms, one of the border guys came up to me with and he had the website (www.terranovaexpedition.ca) up on his phone.  He had seen it written on the bike, and typed it in.  He asked where the other guy (Troy) was.  :)

One thing that we different here, was they had an Airport X-ray style machine there, and asked me (nicely) to take all the gear off the bike and put it through the machine, which I did.

After getting through the border, we stopped for the "new country" picture, and as we rode into Arica, we passed a few guys on KTM 990 Adventures (same bikes that Petar and Dominick are riding).  Seems that they, and 9 other guys from Santiago, Chile had flown up here with the bikes, and were riding into Bolivia.

So we followed them to the hotel and hung out a bit last night.

After, Vanessa and I went down to the beach (we're on the Pacific Coast here), and walked out on the pier.  The air here is so dense with moisture, that most of the pictures we took look terrible, as the flash reflects against the water droplets in the air.    Then went for a swim at the hotel pool.   Some of the pictures turned out ok.

Just over the border in Chile.

Out for supper.
The air here was so dense with moisture and fog last night, it made taking pictures hard.

At the beach.  :)
At breakfast this morning Vanessa said:  "I thought the coffee in Peru was terrible, but it's terrible here too.  I thought all coffee tasted like Colombian coffee"     :)
